The major conflict in the country which has now taken the shape of a civil war erupted as a result of the failure to recognize and respect the democratic rights of the Tamil speaking people. The parliamentary representative democratic governing method, which operates in the country does not provide a solution to the conflict, and thus seem rather out dated.
