   GENERAL GUIDE LINES TO THE MEMBERS OF THE PRAYATHNA PEOPLES MOVEMENT
     THE ROLE OF THE MOVEMENT
  • We will strive for Democracy Good governance and Human rights in all levels of the society.
  • We will intervene and mediate in situations where the right of a group of citizens is infringed.
  • We will be the voice of the voiceless and represent the interests of the poorest of the poor and the excluded people.
  • We will be committed to ensure the individual and group dignity and identity of all citizens.
  • We will impart the knowledge and skills required to be an active citizen into all our members.
  • We will prepare, declare and advocate for a people’s manifesto towards a shared alternative sri lanka.

     THE MEMBERS WILL BE :
  • Provided with the updated information with regard to national policies and legislation that requires the attention of citizens.
  • Provided with opportunities to engage in dialogues, debates and discussions with various stakeholders on the matters of their concern.
  • Provided with necessary training to express the resistance through nonviolent means.
  • Provided with the Skills, Knowledge and attitude required to be an active citizen.

     OBLIGATIONS OF THE MEMBERS
  • Accepting the future vision, mission & objectives of the Prayathna People’s Movement & representing those in the society
  • Continuously participating in the activities organized by an operational body, branch or affiliation of the Prayathna People’s Movement/ Paying membership fees properly
  • Paying the agreed upon membership fee properly
  • Raising resources & providing own resources to enrich the organization
  • Representing the collective decisions of the Movement in the society
  • Promoting and engaging discussions on the Prayathna Peoples Appeal declared on the 10th November at Home, work place and elsewhere.
  • Contributing towards increasing the total membership of the movement by all means.

     RIGHTS OF MEMBERS
   
  • Obtaining a Membership Card
  • Getting the other members support for the circumstances which can be confronted by the individuals due to the involvement in Prayathna People’s Movement & its activities
  • Getting the maximum support & security from the organization
  • Contributing to elect the leadership of the organization
  • Voicing new opinions, suggestions & concepts for the improvement of the Prayathna People’s Movement

     GOVERNANCE STRUCTURE 
  • Divisional, district, provincial & National level bodies will be established.
  • The leadership of each level will be elected by the members of that level.
  • The National leadership will be elected by the delegates from all the administrative districts/divisions of the island.
  • The leadership will always be inclusive of all communities/ethnicities, language groups, cast, race religion, gender and sectors represented in the island nation.
