Although religious teachings should play a vital role for the moral awakening of society, in the present political-cultural context it becomes doubtful if such awakening could be made since religions are being used for narrow political and personal goals by many influential groups.

Prayathna organized a national level event through its inter-religious network to award prominent personalities among religious leaders belonging to four faiths and peace activists through-out the country to commemorate the World Peace Day on 21 September 2007. Nearly 300 religious leaders and 200 laymen participated in this event.
