  MARKING THE FIRST ANIVERSARY OF NOVEMBER10 NATIONAL CONVENTION-2008
A Seminar on Ordinary Level Education was held at Ragula Maha Vidyalaya, Angoda on 10.11.2008 from 9.a.m. to 2.00 p.m.
The objectives of the Seminar were to create awareness among the Advanced Level students of low-income families who will sit for this year’s examinations as well as to mark the anniversary of the Prayathna People’s Movement’s Convention held on November 10, 2007 and to propagate the Movement.

 
  Condolence Message of the PP M on the demise of Dr. Premasiri Khemadasa
The Prayathna Peoplels Movement (P.P.M) expresses its deep sorrow on the demise of Dr. Premasiri Khemadasa, a great Musician in Sri Lanka.
Dr. Khemadasa was an unparalleled and an internationally acclaimed music maestro. He was highly distinguished in his unique creativity in the field of music as well as in his social objectives. He was a patriot and an internationalist as well.

  The PPM wishes to record its highest appreciation on the recent rulings of the Supreme Court.
Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunge and several others have been ordered to pay millions of rupees as compensation in the Waters Edge deal. Itt has also ordered the Bribery Commission to investigate the transaction and the Urban Development Authority to take over the land.

  CREATE HUMANITARIAN ZONES FOR IDPs
The picture of the war front as well as of the civilian front is grim. On the war front casualties are high on both sides. On the civilian front the number of internally displaced persons (IDPs) is growing immensely. Both these phenomena are inter-connected.

The Prayathna People’s Movement has warned the Chairman of the Telecommunication Regulatory Commission that legal action will be instituted if the telephone charges are not reduced.
  PPM CONDEMNS LTTE’S POISONOUS GAS ATTACK
The Prayathna People’s Movement strongly condemns the use of poisonous gas by LTTE at the battle front. According to the Defence Ministry sources, “troops moving from the east of Akkarayankulam tank had to slowdown their advance at the initial stages as the LTTE launched poisonous gas attacks at them.
